Nicolas Cage delivers a gloriously pulpy performance that makes every quip and thwip crackle in Spider-Noir -- a dazzling, stylish blend of hard-boiled storytelling and pure comic book verve.

It’s an effective, atmospheric pastiche of studio-era classicism and comic book wham-bam, and it’s done well enough to tickle the sensibilities of old-movie geeks (me)... Go to Full Review

Spider-Noir can be funny and fun. And yet, as the name suggests, it comes in a shade of darkness. Go to Full Review

There’s a magnetism to Nicolas Cage's screen presence you can’t ignore, nor do you want to. Go to Full Review

The whole thing has a lifeless, airless, hermetically sealed quality, like a stiff museum diorama or a mint-condition vintage toy still in its original packaging. Go to Full Review

The mission statement is off. I felt like it was checking off those noir elements dutifully, like they were stations of the cross, instead of reveling in them. Go to Full Review

The series is such a slapdash representation of noir, it feels like the showrunners simply read the Wikipedia entry instead of even watching the classics. Go to Full Review

Eric H. @ZombieLab 1h Nicholas Cage and the rest of the cast were amazing. Upbeat noir offering-great series. See more ButteredToast S @MovieManic03 3h Great show! I loved it, I just felt there wasn't enough spider-noir in it. While yes, it was a great introduction to the character and an expansion into his world, it didn't really highlight him as Spider-Man. Which is fine, but hopefully next season they will include more spider-noir scenes. Overall, an amazing and fun show! See more Lucas C. @TheMovieConnoisseur007 5h Spider-Noir is what happens when Sony actually listens to the fans. I loved almost everything about this show. The atmosphere, cinematography, and lighting are absolutely phenomenal. I chose to watch the entire series in black and white, and it felt like the definitive way to experience it. The noir aesthetic is stunning, fully immersing you in its 1930s-inspired world. Even the dialogue and mannerisms feel authentic to the era, making the setting come alive. Nicolas Cage is perfect as The Spider. His dry, drunken humor consistently landed for me, and his action scenes were surprisingly impressive. Every fight feels impactful and stylish, fitting seamlessly into the noir tone. The supporting cast is excellent as well, with Janet, Robbie, and Cat all bringing something memorable to the story. The villains were equally strong, adding tension and mystery throughout the season. See more Rookster T. @RT06065311 5h I loved the series and especially the character development of Ben Reilly. Cage’s acting is a big factor on the success of the series as he nails the character. The story is well-developed overall, and it leaves the viewer with a desire for more. I would say my only issue with the show was the extremely slow pacing, and the fact that there are very limited action scenes. The last complaint can be taken with a grain of salt as Ben Reilly’s thing is to be a detective, but it feels like they overextended some investigations. Overall, great show and I would rewatch. See more Martin C. @Spiderverse91 5h This was a great, amazing and spectacular adaptation of the Spider-Man Noir universe and Nicholas Cage made a fantastic performance as Ben Reilly aka the Spider. He’s also in the Spider-Verse films you know. I sure do hope this series gets a season 2, because this had a great story to it and plenty of humor, suspense, romance, drama and action. I’ve been meaning to look into the Spider-Man Noir comics for a while now too and this show really captures the setting of them. There should be a tv show about Peni Parker from the Spider-Verse films as well and that would be fantastic if that happens. I also hope that someday there will be a Spider-Ham show as well. Of course that one would have to be animated since Spider-Ham is like a cartoon character. Anyway, great story, great action great show. I would definitely watch this again sometime in the future. This is also a great way to wait till Spider-Man Brand New Day comes out. This show deserves 5 out 5 stars. Great show period. Peace out See more Brian G @Bgibbs01 7h We really enjoyed it. Well written and the costumes are excellent. Mr cage did a good job but, Brenden Gleeson was great. See more Read all reviews
