What to Know

Critics Consensus

Taut, ambitious, and impressively self-assured, Star City proves a worthy expansion of the For All Mankind universe with its blend of political intrigue and human drama.

Star City is cold and claustrophobic where For All Mankind is caring and cheerful, which makes for a gripping inversion of Apple's sci-fi drama — inspiring awe of a very different kind. Go to Full Review

The good news is that I felt substantially more engaged by Star City than I have by the parent show the last couple of seasons, and there are clear ways the spinoff differentiates itself from its predecessor besides the setting. Go to Full Review

If this is the more slow-burn sibling to For All Mankind, it’s one that gradually draws you in for something perhaps even more satisfying altogether. English accents and all. Go to Full Review

In our real lives, space stuff just keeps getting crazier. So why not escape to an alternate timeline past, and a Soviet space program with its own problems, as Star City expands its For All Mankind footprint. Go to Full Review

Star City is enthralling and thrilling, with complex characters and relationships. Go to Full Review

Dark, twisted and, dare to say, bolder than what For All Mankind has been putting out in its Mars era. Go to Full Review

Daniel M. @EazyD 21h This is a huge disappointment, starting with the British/Welsh/Whatever accents. It's unwatchable. I couldn't care less about Star City. FAM is pretty great. What a complete sell out here. Characters that we already know from FAM shown in younger years SPEAKING WITH BRITISH ACCENTS?!?!? GTFOOH. This show doesn't deserve any more dissection. See more Garret W @RT94247384 2d A slow burn, intriguing premise show. Shows the darker side of the USSR. I will say it's an interesting choice to have Brits play Russians when there are plenty of Russian actors & actresses.... but in a world where there are more rappers than Greeks in The Odyssey, I guess we have to live with it. See more Joseph L @Joseph504 2d So much better than the series that inspired and so much better than almost everything else on TV. Yes, it is that good. See more Zahid T @Zahid2025 2d Just started watching. What's with the cast with British regional accents. Especially the actor who portrays Valya has a Liverpool accent. Very distracting. Makes one feel you're watching a British soap. Bad direction. At least in FAMK they didn't give Russians a bad British Northern accent. See more Ant T @RT16882488 2d I just finished the first episode. I am going to push through because I am interested in seeing how they did following the success of for all mankind. However it feels like they went in a different direction with the old staff and tried to go in a new direction. On top of that I cannot stand the fact that we cannot find any Russian actors or any actors to have Russian accents. It's just more respectful than this. Like I already said, in the first episode, I didn't even know if I was in the UK or in Moscow. They're definitely trying to make more of a dramatic effect which feels like that's where the money is going instead of making this seem more legitimate like in the parent series. See more Nichole B. @nicholebeattie 3d the ladies are killing it - looks beautiful - great storytelling. See more Read all reviews
