Nick F @RT48882955 1d Barry Sullivan was a fine and versatile actor who made over 100 films, often alongside many famous Hollywood stars, though not quite becoming one himself. You get a good example of his solid performances in Buckskin, a 1968 Western directed by Michael D. Moore. Sullivan plays a tough marshal sent to bring order to a small frontier town dominated by a crooked gambler and his hired guns. The cast includes some reliable actors including Wendell Corey, Lon Chaney Jnr, John Russell and Leo Gordon, and Joan Caulfield is notable as the school teacher turned saloon girl. Sullivan delivers plenty of action with fist fights and shoot-outs as he battles to restore order in a community too scared to be of much help. Buckskin is well-made, well-directed and with a twisty plot that keeps your attention, though some may feel it needed a star with just a little more charisma.
