Can't wait to see part 2 See more Brooke M @RT50301997 08/08/2024 While not as good as it’s predecessor, this film still stands on solid ground in both character, development, martial arts action and storyline. The story picks up a few years after the end of the previous film and follows Michelle Yeoh’ character Yu Shu Lien, who comes out of retirement after her friend Sir Te passes away. The Sword of Destiny is again at the focus of the story as a ruthless warlord seeks to claim it to aid his conquests of neighboring territories. The plot has plenty of interesting twist and turns and many the characters, like in the first film, are not quite who or what they seem to be. The fight scenes are stunning, and the quieter character moments are very well done as well. The acting is solid, and the scenery and sets are amazing. Overall, it is an entertaining film and well worth the hour and a half or so it takes to watch it. I give it a solid four star rating. If it had been a kung fu film made with the spirit of anime and not a sequel to a masterpiece, it would have been better received.
