The franchise works precisely because it: • disrupts traditional masculine self-image • exposes competitive male insecurity • refuses to flatter male ego • does so through comedy, lowering defences while sharpening the sting. What some critics dismiss as broad or immature is, in fact, the point. The humour functions as a mirror, revealing the absurdity of male competition and performative masculinity rather than mythologising it. For viewers comfortable with that reflection, the films are generous, funny and surprisingly honest. For those more invested — consciously or not — in traditional masculine narratives, the experience may be less entertaining and more confronting. Comedy that laughs at power rather than with it is often punished. That response tells us as much about the critical lens as it does about the film itself. Perhaps another comedy in itself! See more Lemmiblog T @Lemmiblog Nov 10 JEDER IDIOT KANN VATER WERDEN Der aufopfernde, aber spießige Brad versucht alles, um ein guter Stiefvater zu sein. Doch die Kinder behandeln ihn, als wäre er ein schlecht bezahlter Babysitter. Als plötzlich Dusty, der leibliche Vater, wieder auftaucht, beginnt der kindische Konkurrenzkampf und das Chaos nimmt seinen Lauf. Daddy’s Home (2015) läuft etwa 95 Minuten, ist ab 6 Jahren freigegeben und vereint Will Ferrell und Mark Wahlberg in einer Komödie, die jedes erdenkliche Familien Klischee mitnimmt. Ferrell gibt das weichgespülte Herzchen, Wahlberg den coolen Macho, beide etwa so subtil wie eine Abrissbirne im Kindergarten. Die Story springt von einer peinlichen Aktion zur nächsten, witzig ist kaum etwas davon. Ferrell versucht sich erst an antiautoritärem Gelaber, dann an betrunkenem Blödsinn, während Wahlberg mit Muskeln und Männlichkeitskomplexen um sich wirft. Überraschung, funktioniert natürlich beides nicht. Trotzdem ist der Film kurzweili, ein paar Ideen zünden und einzelne Sprüche sind so dämlich, dass sie schon wieder Spaß machen („wie eigentlich ein perfekter Hoden aussehen muss“ na danke für die Info). Aber insgesamt ist das alles zu vorhersehbar, zu brav, zu oft gesehen. Die Figuren wirken wie aus der Klischeefabrik, die Gags wie von einem Praktikanten aus den 2000ern. Das Finale hat immerhin einen schönen Meta Moment, als ein Typ auftaucht, der noch mehr Muskeln hat als Wahlberg und plötzlich wird klar, was echte Bedrohung ist. Unterm Strich bleibt eine harmlose Komödie, die man problemlos nebenbei laufen lassen kann, ohne eine Gehirnzelle zu gefährden. 5 von 10 Punkten. Womit gewinnt man die Liebe von Kindern? Geschenken. So vorhersehbar wie wirksam.
