Jennie Kermode Eye for Film Nov 11
2/5
The story is sweetly delivered without the heavy moralising that often plagues teen films, and there will be plenty for viewers that age to relate to. Go to Full Review

Growing Pains, as it stands, has a lot of love poured into it. However, the lack of characterization and forced dialogue make the film difficult to champion, regardless of how much indie films need a champion. Go to Full Review

Wobbles aside, Growing Pains paints a largely authentic picture of the complications of modern adolescence, putting characters rather than hyperbole at the centre of the story. Go to Full Review

Overall, Growing Pain is a decently made film with some talent involved. Deanna Tarraza is the highlight of the whole film and elevates all her scenes to make the film as a whole an easier and more agreeable watching experience. Go to Full Review

Niya B @byniya 5d Such a beautiful coming-of-age film with touching themes. Found myself laughing, crying, and feeling every emotion under the sun as Zoe and Nat navigated life. Can’t wait to see more storytelling and directing from this team in the future! See more Erin Z @Ezamborsky Dec 12 I was really impressed with the love poured into this movie. See more Marvin D Dec 2 This film felt absolutely immersive and grounded. It is a charming coming-of-age piece with troubles we can all absolutely relate to, not just adolescent teenage girls. I genuinely enjoyed this heartfelt hidden gem. It seems I got growing pains too! See more Yarelis O Dec 1 A beautiful coming-of-age film that is easy to watch! This movie brings a modern take on the confusing physical, social and emotional challenges in adolescence that are both personal and universal. If you are an adolescent, then this film wonderfully gives you a take on the importance of having strong communication and support between you and loved ones. If you have children of your own, then this film is a wonderful example of the modern experiences adolescents go through that parents may not see behind closed bedroom doors (explicit text messages, bad peer advice, etc.). And simply, this film will bring you back to a time when you once navigated similar peer pressure, relationships, independence and mental health. I recommend this film to everyone. See more Chanthen N Dec 1 This film perfectly captures the experiences of growing up, while encompassing raw emotions and clever storytelling. I can’t wait to see what is next for this director! See more Callie C Dec 1 A very entertaining, thoughtful, personal film that captures exactly how it feels to be a teenager in the transition between middle and high school. Tackles topics of peer pressure/sexual pressure, coming-out, eating disorders, friendship, family, and more in a beautiful and realistic way. Truly remarkable and important coming of age story to tell!! See more Read all reviews
