In making sense of the space, Inside the Manosphere arguably underestimates just how profoundly rotten it is. Go to Full Review

Louis Theroux: Inside the Manosphere runs for an indulgent 90 minutes, which is a long time to spend in the company of some of the internet’s most tedious, charmless, self-flagellating, misogynistic drones. Go to Full Review

While Theroux is considered one of the world’s greatest documentarians, his trademark of being a remarkable listener and gentle provocateur doesn’t rattle these antifeminist influencers, who will undoubtedly leave your blood boiling. Go to Full Review

The documentary reveals, perhaps unintentionally, that the manosphere is less a movement and more a marketplace. Clickbait rage is these platforms’ currency. Go to Full Review

George O @RT24312948 2d A missed opportunity to actually expose the damage of negative role models on young men. There was no exploration of the impact of the status quo as well as no suggestion of solutions. He should’ve spent time with people negatively affected but that didn’t happen. Instead, the filmmaker tried to expose the influencers as fraudulent financially, and failed. See more Mahdi T @FilmLover32 2d The whole thing felt like it was building toward something deeper, but instead it played out like an MTV Cribs episode for misogynists. The doc confirms what we already know, the manosphere operates like a cult that preys on vulnerable misdirected men. Overall, it felt rushed and underdeveloped. There’s no serious acknowledgment of how societal shifts feed into this pipeline of angry men. That context matters, and skipping it makes the whole thing feel incomplete. It ends up feeling like everyone’s a villain including the "objective" journalist lens we’re supposed to trust. Louis Theroux only seemed genuinely engaged when he was trying to debunk the Illuminati cabal. But when it came to the actual harm these spaces cause or the bigger systems behind them he stayed surface-level. It’s all corrupt. Overall, it had potential but ultimately said a lot without really saying anything new. See more Todd B @RT84089920 2d It starts off a bit smug with a tinge of gotcha journalism even though some of the content and statements are absurd and shallow, but to Theroux's credit, he lets the tables get turned on him at the end. They all admit it is a show for money aimed at young men. The doc would have been much better if it delved more into appeal of this content with young men. The Doc completely ignores societal changes that can explain why young men are attracted to this type of content. See more R Z. @GoldenHolden Apr 1 I mean it’s a real journalist interviewing a bunch of l0ser kids I’ve never heard of who all come off as extremely sad, weird and extremely online. See more Rob B @Rob791 Mar 28 I can understand the defensiveness of the subjects been scared of been shown in a negative light. If you have a basic understanding of how the editing room works, then you know it is where the narrative is created. It is the place that can make the bad look good, the truth a lie, ect. MSM are professionals at this. So, because of that, it is all rather surface level and goes no deeper than that, because why would you let your guard down if you were them? Nothing about the reasoning and only a very few influencers included. See more Lucas H @RT19546852 Mar 25 A complete one sided documentary (if you can call it that) See more Read all reviews
