What to Know

Critics Consensus

Presented with great pomp and circumstance but little insight, this documentary purports to be an up-close view of the First Lady while curiously revealing very little about her.

Audience Says

An observational, behind-the-scenes look at the FLOTUS during POTUS’ inauguration, Melania is as polished as its subject -- elegant, charitable, and gifted with a famously distinctive fashion sensibility.

It is the most depressing experience I have ever had in the cinema. Go to Full Review

It is, it’s true, a film that could have been authored by Hello! magazine, but isn’t there some value in seeing how someone wants to be seen? There’s also no shame in being in it for the rich lifestyle porn -- on that count it delivers handsomely. Go to Full Review

“Everyone wants to know my story,” she announces in the opening voiceover of her new, self-titled film. “Well, here it is.” Except, it’s not. Here is absolutely nothing. Seventy-five million dollars for two hours of almost pure absence. Go to Full Review

The whole vibe is eerily off from start to finish, leaving you feeling as if you’ve spent 105 minutes alone on a merry-go-round in an abandoned amusement park. Go to Full Review

There’s no mistaking it: Melania is reputation-saving hokum. But it’s mostly just pathetic. Go to Full Review

It’s just really, really boring. And it’s full of some very odd choices, and I’m not sure whether to blame Ratner or his subject, who reportedly 'planned every element' of the picture. Go to Full Review

Kim C 2d It is a wonderful movie. It takes through the days leading up to the inauguration and the planning that she did for it. It gives a lot of insight about the projects she has been working on for children. She is very gracious and very a very nice lady. See more Heather 2d Gives insights into Melania's life. Anyone who thinks the life of president or FLOTUS is a life of luxury and leisure, are highly mistaken. They both work hard, and earn their money, based on what is shown in this film. Melania is busy constantly, flying around, planning events, meeting with people. She is a perfectionist so in every situation she has to be 100% "on" and looking great, in flawlessly tailored fashion and of course, high heels. In one scene they were all assembled at Arlington Cemetery outside in freezing cold rain. I give Melania a lot of credit for showing up in as many places as she does and taking care of so many people. Heck, I give Donald Trump credit for all that too. See more Katherine W 2d Very informative and love of our country and preserving history was evident Also nice to be able to enjoy going to the theater and see a movie with no profanity, nudity etc. See more Lisa 2d Well made and I love to see the relaxed side of Melania. It's also nice to see how excited others are to be around her and how well she treats people. See more Grace in CA 2d I liked it very much, and saw it with my adult daughter (Democrat). I preface this to say that I'm not a MAGA voter, though I lean Republican. We both felt it was beautifully filmed, especially the scenes of New York City! I felt it was enjoyable and lightweight (with the exception of the very moving segment on her meeting with the Israeli hostage',s wife). It was interesting to see the events leading up to the three day inauguration itinerary. The feel, however, was that of a campaign film as opposed to a personal reflection, with the exception of her St. Patrick's Cathedral candle lighting for her late mother. I do recommend it as there are worst ways to spend 90 minutes than looking at Mrs. Trump! I would have liked to learn more about Mrs. Trump's typical days, exercise routine, hobbies, etc. See more Linda & Dear Friend Gloria 2d It was because she is a migrant, first time a Presdents wife Melania that made a movie & that the 2 of them showed there love & consideration for each other, nice to see their Son Baron in the movie! Very interesting, History is important - Learning more! Is this a Was this a Documentary or a Movie? See more Read all reviews
