Ernest 05/23/2022 I had no idea that it was a foreign film with subtitles. After a few minutes I got used to reading the dialog. The Horror genre of the fim sneaks up onyou, well done. The characters remind me of being a kid in the 80’s, free to explore but also free to get into trouble. Which children do whats right? This movie is in my top favorite of all time. A slow-burn horror featuring children of various moral leanings being challenged by the abilities they all begin to display. There is no explanation as to why they possess these powers (maybe they are mutants? Contact Prof X!). I was reminded of Village of the Damned in which children are also affected by supernatural powers. Here, though, instead of the children being in conflict with adults the discord is between the children themselves. The adults are NPCs in this tale. One issue I had with the film was the length. At times the quiet tension is too quiet and I wished the film would move faster. Still, I enjoyed this portrayal of moral corrosion and abuse. Here evil is portrayed as mere direct sentiments, eliminating others or the unwanted out of fun, spite or defence, without the complexity or afterthought of older individuals and adults. Visually striking with restrained but impactful CGI, and incredible performance from the young actors, this is one of the best genre-bending horror films. See more Frenkie T @RT32638069 Nov 5 It's a slow burner with almost no action, no screamers, but also no facepalm moments, no clichéd dialogue, and plot twists that aren't the most obvious. The actors are all unknown, and the faces and sets are fresh. Well, yes, this is a story about the paradox of childhood cruelty, and the main villain plays the role of a classic psychopath. Psychopaths are often born, in case you didn't know. It's simply because of the peculiarities of children's psychology that they're rarely diagnosed with this. Many children behave strangely and can be cruel even without psychopathic tendencies. This film isn't the most vivid or profound, but it's still an entertaining insight into the world of children, where things aren't as rosy as they're commonly believed. See more Read all reviews
