If you need to spot the narcissist lurking behind a friend or lover, this Maria Tomei bonbon may be just instructional romcom you’re looking for. She's great. The movie not so much. Go to Full Review

Tomei is undeniable, and she and Bravo forge an easy, believable chemistry as mother and daughter. That bond, and the gorgeous boutique hotel where much of the film takes place, are the biggest draws here. Go to Full Review

...the script also makes valid points avoiding tragedy and leading to the kind of comedy inherent to happy chick flicks so ultimately, You’re Dating a Narcissist! meets the desires of its target audience. Go to Full Review

Because the movie never wants to grapple with the deep-seated issues of its protagonist, Marisa Tomei ends up portraying the most grating character of her career who would be a straight-up villain in another film. Go to Full Review

"You’re Dating a Narcissist!" teases itself as a smart and sincere anti-romcom. But the film quickly devolves into an unrelatable, formulaic, and borderline obnoxious swing-and-miss. Go to Full Review

I enjoyed the movie. It did a good job subverting tropes and talking about toxic dating while still keeping some hope and humor present Go to Full Review

Mr Hollywood 5d Too by the numbers. Follows the rom com playbook. It forgot that by now it’s been played out See more Susan Lopez Apr 1 A very simple movie and kept my interest. I would recommend the movie. See more Robert C Mar 29 Marissa Tomei and Sherry Cola were wonderful. Dramatic, funny, and fun. See more GuyFiery Mar 29 Marisa Tomei is a welcome sight. Sherry Cola is a gem. Ciara Bravo still looks twelve, which adds an interesting twist to her boyfriend (s). Cute story. Most of the men have accents. Supposed to be primarily set in California, wonder where it was shot See more Genna B. @genrb 1d We were laughing the whole time and so entertained by the story line. And - the deeper message was very important and relatable to a group of 20 something's! See more Jim D @theLunchMovie 1d Aside from this being a fun, bittersweet, insightful comedy, I was struck by director/co-writer Ann Marie Allison's skill with actors. This movie teams actors I'm familiar with and others I've never seen before. The newer folks shine, and hold their own against veteran actors. This shows me how well Allison prepares and grooves with her cast. Reviews, movie books, and film schools regard Directing as framing cool shots and snappy editing. Directing Actors is as crucial a part of the job, a fading art that Allison handles very smoothly. Seeing that skill in capable hands makes me love movies. I've been a Marisa Tomei fan since VINNY; I'm one of the few who actually liked OSCAR. I love that she gives a performance with layers that her Marvel movies overlook. Tomei anchors with a blend of filmic comedy and parental reality. The audience I saw it with laughed or held their breath in all the right places. I'll be watching for whatever comes next from the writer & director of NARCISSIST! See more Read all reviews
