The story of three childhood friends, Lucy (Britney Spears), Kit (Zoe Saldana) and Mimi (Taryn Manning), who, after eight years apart, rediscover their friendship on a cross-country trip. With barely a plan, practically no money but plenty of dreams, the girls catch a lift with Mimi's handsome friend Ben (Anson Mount) in his convertible. Along the way they not only gather experiences that will change their lives, but they also discover how important it is to hold onto their hearts' desires.

I can see the hate mail now. If this film starred anyone else, I'd be safe. Throw a polarizing superstar like Britney Spears into the mix, however, and all bets are off.

Naive and amateurish in both the negative and positive sense of these terms, Crossroads provides a disappointing showcase for pop icon and youth symbol Britney Spears, who pretends to be the new-retro Sandra Dee.

I adored the charm that Britney brought to the screen as Lucy. What's with valedictorians having to not-be Britneyish? I also love Zoe (from Gamora-ing, but she's been always magnificent, I take). The trio has good vibes and energy making it a good movie to relax to, while at a spa. It is far-fetched and unrealistic, yet it remains utterly predictable. There's no depth or takeaway. Despite it all, I enjoyed it, and I think it would be worthy of a revisit every handful of years.
