Critics Consensus

One of indie stalwart Gregg Araki's most accessible works yet, this bawdy dramedy leverages well-judged performances by Olivia Wilde and Cooper Hoffman to deliver incisive commentary on carnality and connection.

It helps that Hoffman and Wilde are perfect scene partners. Her confidence and prowess play off of Hoffman’s eager beaver desperation. Go to Full Review

Araki and co-writer Karley Sciortino, a former Vogue sex columnist, seem to be begging the younger generation to get emotionally brutalized by love, or sex, or whatever combination of the two you’ve confused yourself into believing is true. Go to Full Review

It is also very, very funny; and Araki — whose wonderfully daring “Mysterious Skin” (2005) remains his masterwork — directs with an appealing joyfulness. Go to Full Review

Intrigued by stats showing Gen Z isn’t having nearly as much sex as previous generations, Araki has assembled an indie A-team to play this out. It’s canny, provocative, silly, visually colourful and a lot of fun. Go to Full Review

jesse v 13h an anxious somewhat-immature washed college graduate enters the world of sexual artistry and sex fantasies and falls in love with pretentious lady. there are some sexual jokes that raise an eyebrow, and political/social jokes that make you sigh. there are some non-continuous-shot editing mistakes throughout. Why does he and his girlfriend text like children? what does the lesbian friend do other than be token ditzy lesbian? does the girlfriend ever do anything else other than read a book?? Why are there only extras in the art studio and nowhere else? The crime drama substory was slightly intriguing. See more Ana May H @RT42771978 4h WTF is this movie.....
