The screenplay by Krishnadas Murali and Vishnu R Pradeep is packed with clever turns, sustained humour, and escalating tension. Go to Full Review

Not only does the story take a fresh trajectory this time, with novel conflicts arising along the way, but its aesthetics, visual style, and pacing are also completely different from those of Bharathanatyam, offering an absolutely fresh experience. Go to Full Review

With a rationalist bent to its dark humour, Mohiniyattam is several notches above the original film. Go to Full Review

With the kind of actors and scenes that remind one of the classic Priyadarshan films of the 80s, Bharathanatyam 2 Mohiniyattam is the darkest of dark comedies told with the lightest of touches. Go to Full Review

arvind S @Arvind100 3h Saiju Kurup's 150th movie is clearly one of the best sequels to come out of any industry. Everything from the title to the very organic progression of the story, makes this sequel the most cleverly envisioned one in recent times. Saiju Govinda Kurup is one of my favourite actors from Malayalam cinema. He has a knack of pulling off characters with such ease, especially the common man. The supporting cast in Mohiniyattam is its biggest strength. Baby Jean, Kalaranjini, Suraj Venjaramoodu, Vinay Forrt and Jagadish are in top form. Mohiniyattam also flips the genre of the franchise. Dark comedies are not easy to pull because there has to be a fine line between a thriller and comedy and Krishnadas Murali and team pull it off with such finesse. If you want to watch a movie that ticks all the boxes, then do check out Mohiniyattam. There is a brief recap of the original at the start of the sequel, so you are covered if you have forgotten the story so far. While the first part moves at a slower pace, the second half becomes a laugh riot, reminiscent of popular 80s and 90s Malayalam movies. It's so good, I might want to watch it all over again!'
