See more Blu B @RT43513976 Sep 1 The biggest strike here is this abandons in the middle any idea of being a sequel and expanding upon the characters or ideas and just becomes a repeat of the first one almost beat for beat repackaged even down to Grant/Firth fighting and it snowing in the end. It's a shame because I thought it would explore what it's like now that she's in a relationship and instead just sets things up for repeat. In regards to what this does well, Zellewegger is great and nails the character. It's just the material isn't as strong here. Same with Firth & Grant. It feels like this almost forgets a bit about Grant's character also. The editing and pacing is alright nd everythign else is half decent. Everythign follows a logical flow and makes sense. This isn't jumpy at all but...man the turns the story takes. It becomes like a bad Romcom or a Sex in the City movie kind of. This also leans a bit too much into it being slapstick comedy at times also like the whole ski bit. Don't get me wrong the humor is good honestly and nails the Jone's humor but it just gets in the way of being clever. The movie really started to lose me with the whole Asian prison and just felt like it was so out of place and the events that followed were just written poorly, lazy, and just an excuse to repeat the first. Leaning too much into slapstick, taking bizarre/stupid turns with the plot, and abandoning any expansion ofor repeating the first at it's core are the biggest issues here. Skip it. Comes close to being bad but just limps across on the momentum it starts out with in the first half. See more K G @KatyG-S Jun 6 Bridget Jones has returned with a sequel yet again being funny. This movie has more adventure, more storyline when Daniel Ceaser returning, sending her abroad & getting held in captive. We are also getting progression because we meet somebodys girlfriend is lesbian (or I might add bisexuality) in it - representing LGBTQ+ I also loved the soundtrack with songs such as "Crazy in Love" when Bridget is going to have to say a big thing to Matt. The ending was twisty but great with the question getting popped but they are attending Bridgets Jones parents renewing their vowels. We'll I cannot wait until its Mr & Mrs Darcy. However, I do prefer it's predecessor.
