Mass murderer Jason Voorhees (Kane Hodder) is resurrected from the bottom of Crystal Lake. After he kills a passing boat's occupants, he stows away on a cruise ship filled with a high-school graduating class bound for New York City. Biology teacher Charles McCulloch (Peter Mark Richman) is on board with his niece, Rennie (Jensen Daggett), who has visions of Jason drowning as a child. They escape his bloody shipboard rampage, but, when Rennie and Charles reach Manhattan, Jason is close by.

For a start, the characters don't even make it to Manhattan until more than an hour into the film and Jason doesn't exactly "take" it when he arrives -- things get pretty tiresome pretty fast in the city that never sleeps.

Jason is accidentally revived via an underwater electrical cable and hitches a ride on a cruise ship packed with graduating high school students heading to New York. After sinking the ship, a small group of survivors escapes via lifeboat to Manhattan. Jason stalks them through the city streets and subways until he is washed away by toxic waste flooding the sewer system. The final 30 minutes in the city provide some much-needed momentum, and the rooftop scene features a hilarious, memorable moment where a student tries to box Jason, only to get his head knocked clean off into a dumpster. The film suffers from a massive false advertisement problem, most of the running time is spent on a boring boat rather than in New York. The characters are terrible, including an insufferable teacher and a student who tries to seduce him. The bizarre hallucination subplots regarding Rennie's childhood drowning make little sense.

now listen I don’t mind shitty horror movies in this series. I enjoy shitty horror movies I liked part nine hate me if you want, but this movie……. yeesh Almost everything about this movie crappy, especially the kills besides the boxers decapitation

Different? Yes. Good? No... far from it. Whoever decided to have the title "Jason Takes Manhattan" has to be arrested and convicted for fraud and while you're at it, throw the key away.
