Lou Diamond Phillips gives an award-worthy performance that anchors the entire film, but the real surprise is Dana Namerode. For someone early in her career, she plays her role with effortless brilliance, as if she were born for it. ​Between the stark cinematography and the tight narrative tension, you could easily mistake this for a Coen brothers production.
