Blake- N @PBSAniDom 2d Good Fences is a decent viewing experience that delivers a mix of comedy and drama with some thoughtful themes underneath. It may not be a standout production, but it remains watchable and manages to hold interest throughout its runtime. The performances are solid and help carry the story, especially during the more character-focused moments. The film does a respectable job balancing its lighter and more serious elements, even if some scenes are stronger than others. As a SHOWTIME production, it feels polished enough and benefits from a capable cast. While it doesn't leave a lasting impact and occasionally feels predictable, there is enough here to make it worth a watch for those interested in its subject matter. Overall, I found Good Fences to be a decent film that has its moments, and I'd rate it a 6/10. See more Richard L @RLEON May 7 Great movie. Very subtle dark comedy about the corrosive effects of ambition, class, and racism on a black family's struggle to find acceptance in a white world of wealth and privilege. They eventually succeed leading to unfortunate results and dark outcomes. The beginning slowly builds to an explosive event and a slow fade hinting at a minor redemption. The actors are excellent and the atmosphere is somewhat surreal as one would expectof people living in plastic bubble. Hungry ghosts never find satisfaction. See more 05/24/2018 The premises were nice, but the result is boring, awfully long and quite meaningless. The soundtrack is even worse. See more 06/09/2016 Not exactly a great movie but a Damn good story about a Black family growing in White America. I thought this movie was gonna be a Comedy and though theres enough humor in this, This movie got dark quick. See more 07/31/2012 A very good story about knowing exactly where you came from, and never forgetting it!!!! See more 08/24/2009 This film should be gated off in its own community. Even Glover and Goldberg did not shine in this poorly scripted, terribly directed film. Though the premise of the movie was admirable, the issues become muddied almost from the get-go with no real concern from the actors followed by apathy from the audiance. A waste of film brightened only by an occasional Whoopi or Mo'Nique moment. Avoid this. See more Read all reviews
