Graffiti Bridge may be far from perfect, but it is also a fascinating film in a number of ways, due as much to its strengths as its weaknesses. Go to Full Review

Graffiti Bridge is essentially a series of music videos strung together uncomfortably with awkward dialogue and stiff acting. Go to Full Review
Jason Bailey Flavorwire 10/15/2016
He abandons even the semi-realism of 'Purple Rain' for something closer to a good, old-fashioned, backlot musical - something we get even less of these days, so enjoy the novelty. Go to Full Review

Khalan C @RT41115907 Apr 22 Even though the plot is wonky and is overshadowed by it's first film, it serves as a worthy sequel to hardcore Prince fans and those wanting to follow The Kid's story. See more joanie 02/20/2025 if u watch this movie as if it was a filmed Broadway musical u will see that it is top notch in: performances, set design, lighting, costumes, and of course the music. missed all that? then watch it again. & if u missed the film’s message, repeat til u get it See more Ted R @RT54107484 04/21/2024 This is half the reason I love this movie so much. It's very dream-eqsue. I always secretly wished I could go to Seven Corners. I showed my friends-with-benefits the movie the other week though, I expected her to not like it but she actually enjoyed it. Some of Prince's best songs come from this era...Can't Stop, Question of U, Joy In Repetition, We Can Funk...Thieves in the Temple extended version. Anyway, I liked to watch "Graffiti Bridge" every few years and I'm glad it's around now more than ever. Even though "Under the Cherry Moon" is Prince's true cinematic best - so misunderstood and so, so good. GB's problem was people in general wanted another Purple Rain movie. I thought GB was a great movie. Cheeky at times, but thought-provoking and entertaining. Definitely a Cult Classic. We all knew how funny Prince can be. I felt that if he wasn't already a music superstar, he could have been a good comedic actor. See more Maxine K @RT48457596 04/21/2024 My best friends and I had a very unique introduction to this film. We celebrated his life and music by joining other Prince fans for an interactive drinking game for GRAFFITI BRIDGE — the infamous sequel to PURPLE RAIN. Psychic friends brought a pendulum chart or printouts of what their online no-tools keen reader said. We were joyfully sharing the secret messages he was passing on now to fans (like what Michael Jackson fans git lol). There were happy tears and only enogh booze so that peeps dont go blabbing his bidness all over. After the drinking game, we were invited to joined the double-bill screening of Purple Rain and Graffiti Bridge. There was popcorn, trailers, Prince music videos, a themed cocktail and prizes as well as a dance party to cap off the night. This was a really entertaining movie! The actors are fun, everybody had their favorite parts, and on the big screen you really get overwhelmed by moods and feelings that Prince wanted to share with us. I streamed it on my cell to compare and the quality and experience not the same. It must've been a real popular movie when it first landed in theatres, perfect for where none of your friends can decide what to watch. We had ourselves a fine ole time and the full-length "screener copy" is turning up online so its a good time to start being a Prince fan, and host a super-fun screening party of your own! See more Rick L @RT52007341 04/21/2024 I own this movie and have watched it several times throughout the years since it was released. Prince stuns us with his phenomenal acting style, he's an accomplished musician, and I feel like that is what he displayed here, he's just the best one to tell this story through influence. Most of this movie is straightforward and teenish but that is not the directors/writers fault, its rated PG-13 and thats better, nobody gon be traumatized when they chillin in front their tv, mild suspense is there, you can just have it randomly playing in the background and people are really receptive to this movie when you have mixed company over. still it is a great movie with even better music. The principals and moral convictions in Graffiti Bridge are quite strong, and if more movies would rely on the basics we are taught as young children we would have a better all around environment seeing that art reflects life which reflects art. See more Cream Shaboogie Bop @RT89274091 04/12/2024 I'm a longtime Prince fan ,and musicals are among my fav movies. I've seen as many as I could, but Graffiti Bridge is still the best by far. All the singers involved have extraordinary voices and good acting talent, the dancers have been carefully chosen so that their performances wow you from the very first song. The words are artfully chosen, sometimes eloquent like our guy Prince, sometimes hilariously ignorant like Morris- a real treat to listen to. Sometimes you have to look up words or concepts later on and gain more secret, intuitive insights because of G.B. The Artist Formerly Known As Prince is infamous for his Purple Rain movie, (also with interesting plotlines IMHO), but he has another movie I also recommend. Under The Cherry Moon is about funny gigolos. Basically its always pure intrigue with this man. Definately worth shelling out a paltry 4 bucks to rent it for a month or about 9 to purchase online (on youtube), and enjoy it forever. See more Read all reviews
