The sequel, Sex and the City 2, wipes any urges towards mirth. You watch in mounting disbelief as the disgruntled girls ( not women, never) come on to whinge about every single thing that's in their lives.

King allows these women no room for growth, even within a two-and-a-half-hour movie. They all end up just as they were, ever obsessed with surfaces and labels, which is disappointing.

I did a rerun of the series followed by the movies, and I can’t believe how LAZY the writing here was. Samantha going through menopause, AGAIN?! After already going through it when she was on chemo. This makes no sense to be honest. Both hers and Miranda’s storyline were so lazy, and poorly written. It was more about the clothing, rather than the plot. Disappointing tbh, but still entertaining— a perfect foreshadowing of the recent show “ And Just Like That”, which is like a watching a car crash, you can’t just look away.
