Six years after his glittering triumph in the disco dance contest of "Saturday Night Fever," an older and wiser Tony Manero (John Travolta) works as a serious dance teacher in New York City and dreams of making it on Broadway. Manero gets his shot when his girlfriend, Jackie (Cynthia Rhodes), gets him an audition for a daring new show called "Satan's Alley." Manero lands a part as a backup dancer and falls back into old habits as he lusts after Broadway bad girl Laura (Finola Hughes).

…a completely different animal to Saturday Night Fever, a pumped-up, be-all-you-can-be slice of extravagant male narcissism on Broadway that plays in such an OTT way that it’s better seen as a comedy…a wonderfully awful, truly daft film, so bad it’s good…

I don't care what people have said. I enjoyed the music and the dance scenes. What can I say? If you're into decent songs and reasonable dance sequences, you'll enjoy it!

It has impressive dance sequences and some sweet moments, but Staying Alive’s rather poorly written script and occasionally bad acting make a movie that’s story is a bit hard to follow.
