11/15/2019 TARZAN AND THE GREAT RIVER returns Tarzan to the jungle, but the attempt to right the franchise and return it at least to glory of the Gordon Scott era, fails. There are moments during the boat trip down river when the screen writers try to channel THE AFRICAN QUEEN, but you can't wring depth out of cliche characters. It's entertaining, but forgettable and leaves the franchise still wanting for a Weismuller blockbuster.
