If you ever was a teenage girl I would definitely recommend you this one. It’s written in a full male perspective and it describes perfectly the mystification of women. Women or girls are a puzzle to solve and not a fully human being. If you ever was a teenage girl you might have felt the same way about yourself. That you live in a glasshouse and the people around you rather observe you than talk to you on eye level. I have the feeling that this film perfectly captures the feeling of that. But the narrator sits in front of the glasshouse and observes the mysterious and beautifully Lisbon-Girls. Would rather recommend the book though movie is still great. PS: amazing soundtrack from Air

My absolute favorite movie. I feel like it shows how men view women as a whole very well, the movie is told from the boys POV, which is supposed to be sort of frustrating to the viewers, but this was what I believe, an amazing choice, their teenage girls, the boys are teenage boys, so the boys aren't going to tell the story like they understand, or feel bad, they just stereotype and dehumanize them. amazing director choice again from Sofia Coppola.

I read the book for a Book Club, and I was a little dazzled. I was unsure if I understood the book at all, as well as if I liked it or not. A lot of pieces were missing. Sofia Coppola managed to direct a movie which, in my opinion, is better than the book, for the first time ever. She clarified some parts, and cancelled some other that were really absurd.

Sofia Coppola’s debut feature is a dreamy, melancholy portrait of adolescence, repression, and the inabilty to fully understand others. It has it's flat spots, but overall this is a solid movie.
