The show doesn’t inflate itself with bigger set pieces or louder spectacle. It cuts deeper instead. This season is leaner, more controlled, and far more interested in the machinery of power than in empty displays of it.

3 episodes in, and so far this season is insufferable... the not-so-veiled political messaging, the implication that the vigilante task force is a 1 to 1 representation of ICE... It would be so nice to just be able to enjoy a comic book/superhero show without being beaten over the head with the writers' political agenda. Somehow we were able to get multiple seasons of DD, as well as the other Defenders shows, and Punisher on Netflix without any overt political messaging... just good guys beating up bad guys... and those shows were all fantastic. We all understand that Hollywood hates Trump, they hate ICE, and they think it's apparent to everyone else that these are universal truths rather than biased (and ill-informed) opinions... but the reality is that at least half of the country doesn't agree, and we should be able to enjoy apolitical entertainment from time to time, without constantly being accosted by left wing activism.
