Simple cinematography that uses unusual angels, movements, & split diopters to make things look absolutely amazing. Yet the pacing is awful & inconsistent as it flies over the setup & crawls towards the climax. A bold story for its time & I’m glad it never holds back on the tough subjects of bullying, puberty, & fanatical religion. It’s campy & overdone at times but that actually ends up reinforcing its identity & target market.
