Matthew D @OceanSage 2d A ridiculous ride into the end of the world. It’s annoying, but at least it’s a fair warning about inevitable disasters wrought from man-made climate change. German director Roland Emmerich’s apocalyptic disaster thriller 2012 is stupid, but funny. John Cusack is funny as the depressed divorced dad and limo driver Jackson Curtis. He makes for an engaging unlikely hero. Amanda Peet is so pretty and caring as the concerned mother Kate Curtis. Chiwetel Ejiofor is wonderful as the smart climate scientist Adrin Helmsley, who just wants to save lives and follow the hard science. Blu Mankuma is very nice as Chiwetel’s father. Thandiwe Newton is fabulous as the art expert and First Daughter Laura Wilson. Oliver Platt is hilarious as the selfish Chief of Staff Carl Anheuser. Danny Glover is nice as the considerate President. Zlatko Burić steals all of his scenes as the hysterical Russian billionaire oligarch Yuri Karpov. Beatrice Rosen is very sexy as Yuri’s plastic girlfriend Tamara. See more Nishant M @Nishant08 6d 2012 is pure chaos. The visuals and disaster scenes are really impressive even if the story gets a bit unrealistic sometimes. If you like disaster movies with insane visuals and nonstop actions, 2012 delivers exactly the same. See more Romas M @Romas May 23 Greetings from Lithuania. "2012" (2009) is a very solid entry into disaster movies genre. It has everything that one would like to have: great special effects, tons of action, larger than life main characters and destructions on a biblical scale. Hey, it's surely isn't the best picture of the year, but it does exactly what it promises, entertains us by showing end of the world and 2 dimensional characters trying to survive it. The master of these flicks Roland Emmerich have destroyed cities in the past pictures, but here he goes on total annihilation. Overall, if you have somehow skipped this flick on it's release, you can safely check this one out you like disaster flicks in general, because "2012" has it all. Performances are all universally good for the material, but it's Oliver Platt's character that kinda was best for me. CGI aren't the best but there is so many of theme here - no wonder that this blockbuster had 200 million dollar budget.
