Renegade cop Jack Cates (Nick Nolte) pulls bank robber Reggie Hammond (Eddie Murphy) from a federal prison on a 48-hour leave to help him capture Hammond's old partner, Albert Ganz (James Remar). Having escaped from a prison work crew, Ganz is on a killing spree around San Francisco, on the trail of half a million dollars that went missing after one of his robberies. The cocky Reggie knows where the money is, but spars with the hotheaded Jack as he enjoys his temporary freedom.

People have to remember it was a different time back then. Everybody's so uptight now. Everything's so PC. This is one of the best buddy movies of all time. It's a classic old school cop movie. With dirty dialogue and trash talking characters. If you don't like a movie or a TV show you can always just go read a book. I guess people would prefer sequels & prequels. Because that's all they make now. Most cop movies are gritty & balls to the wall kind of movies. With dialogue & visual scenes that would make even a cop cringe. But aren't most cop movies pretty much the same way? I haven't seen a cop movie yet that was family friendly. Outside of maybe kindergarten cop. Or in less the movie is a rob-com or a comedy like starsky and hutch. Sure the movie is unapologetic. And isn't for everybody. But here is an idea if you don't like the movie just turn off the TV or change the channel. just saying.
