The film folds in on itself in intriguing (albeit protracted) ways, warping its meta-fictional boundaries until they supersede its characters, or any underlying meaning. Go to Full Review

Black Rabbit, White Rabbit reaffirms Mokri’s position at the intersection of experimental filmmaking and philosophical cinema while perfecting his take on quantum storytelling. Go to Full Review

As the film’s imagery grows increasingly surreal and magical-realistic, the story climaxes with a young woman escaping from a giant burqa, a metaphor, perhaps, for a triumph over theocratic patriarchy. Go to Full Review

mohammad rezaa N @RT85889734 6d I was thinking: "Oh great, here we go again. He's gonna shoot this one without cuts too." "You did the whole film without cuts once (Fish and Cat), and it was damn cool – it even had flashbacks. You did it again (Invasion), and we said okay. You did it again (Careless Crime), and we said 'damn it, it's his style.' But enough, for the love of God! This style isn't cool anymore. It's not fresh." I had already decided I wasn't going to like it. I had a ton of complaints: Is there a story? Is it about the conflict between an Iranian woman and her Tajik husband? Or about a VFX supervisor afraid of screwing up on his 40th film? Why the black & white rabbit? Why a rabbit at all? What's the symbolism? Why do they forget in season three to go on the film uncut? Why does it suddenly shift into surrealism afterward? What's the philosophy behind the similarity between the two men? And so on… But despite all that… I don't know why I liked the film. I have no logical reason. But I did. See more Read all reviews
