See more dave s @RT68722908 03/09/2022 Tim Robbins wrote, directed and starred in the caustic satire Bob Roberts, a mocumentary that is unapologetic in its attack on right-wing, conservative politics in the United States. Roberts is a Republican politician running for a seat in the U.S. Senate, a Dylan-like character who relates his ideology through folk music and a populist doctrine. Lacking any sense of subtlety, which is undoubtedly deliberate, the film is clearly an attack on Republicans and anyone who supports them. Robbins is great in the lead role, the supporting cast is expansive and impressive, the writing is wickedly sharp, the songs are fantastic, and the final ten minutes are absolutely brilliant. Clearly made for an audience that leans to the left, Bob Roberts will appeal to any filmgoer who can check his or her political colors at the door. You have a fun free thinking guy who loves his country going into politics as an outsider and instantly becoming hated by all the life long politicians .
