Convict Billy Brown (Vincent Gallo) dreads going home so much upon his release from prison that he tries to get back inside. In desperation, Billy kidnaps Layla (Christina Ricci) from a tap dancing class and pleads with her to impersonate his wife and to accompany him home to visit his parents, Janet (Anjelica Huston) and Jimmy (Ben Gazzara). To Billy's dismay, Layla takes to her role enthusiastically. She breaks through to obsessive Buffalo Bills football fan Janet and the hard-edged Jimmy.

This film puts you in a chokehold from the very start. I had never seen the lead actor in a film before this, but his acting is absolutely stellar. The pure anguish, loneliness, abandonment, anger, and vitriol of the main character immediately made me root for him. A rough exterior, you instantly want to understand why Billy Brown is the way he is. There were so many scenarios that played in my head while watching that I would have been happy to see that went a different direction but writer knows best. This film is a roller-coaster of emotions and destroys assumptions in a masterful way. Ms. Ricci is stunning, and angelic in her role. I felt that every line she delivered was so genuine. Totally forgot I was watching Christina Ricci, and that has always been the marker of GREAT acting for me. I cried and prayed that the writer loved humanity lmao and, he does. This movie literally kicked my all time favorite off its throne. It's brilliant, it's raw, it's hard. It's beautiful.

Oh no!!!! I love a song a lot, so after 1000 times of hearing Buffilo 66 on dvd, I gave it a try. Christina Ricci acted her ass of off but no this movie sucks. Please don't try to say it's a 90's classic and I don't understand. The whole thing sucks except for some acting moments. Quirky, abusive relationship movies aren't nostalgic, it sucks. Don't waste your time, but I still love "Wet Leg"!!! My first review ever, that is how bad this is.
