Par H @Parhwy Mar 31 Bull (2023) is an 88-minute-long British suspense I saw on Prime in 2026. SPOILER ALERTS. This violent, vengeance-filled and -fuelled film ends with a plot twist that is best described as a cheap trick or is worst described as a bait-and-switch. Bull reminded me of Brickhead by personality and of David Brent by appearance. There are no good or redeeming characters (with speaking roles) in this film except the child, Aiden. Well, maybe the butcher who is extorted and de-fingered… Perhaps I am being hyperbolic? Any character who is more than a lamp post warrant no sympathy, so the violence seems gratuitous. Which, it is. This could be a false correlation however I have seen enough films where the writer, producer and director are the same person and faults seep through (the key fault for me is that bait-and-switch plot twist ending as well as that Bull exist is a world without police implications at all)… Rewatch? Tense, atmospheric and Unflinching in its gory violence, but we still root for Maskell’s character. Very similar to Ben Wheatley’s better offerings. Fabulous but definitely not for the squeamish. You literally begin to feel this sense of revenge and hatred for those who made the protagonist do this. It's incredible, this picture that grabs you from the first minutes. This sound design keeps you in suspense until the end. The acting is a separate page. I could write about it forever. But this is the best I've seen in recent years. It's really Bull!
