I'm sorry I wasted money on that garbage See more 11/14/2021 An overprotective father, played by Martin Lawrence, decides to take his daughter, played by Raven Symonè, on a trip to decide what college she will attend. There are a few moments in this movie that were funny or well acted, but they were fleeting. Raven Symonè is a Disney sitcom actress and it shows frequently here. Martin Lawrence is not an actor and only plays himself in the role. His style of humor is all over this movie and I was surprised that he wasn't a writer for the film. There are a few running gags in this film that didn't pay off, comedy comes in threes and we only got two. There are more than a few plot introductions that go nowhere as well. Donny Osmond plays an annoying father that has the idealistic relationship with his daughter and could have stolen the show, but the character he played was too annoying. This movie is not worth your time. In here, Martin Lawrence plays a cop who wants his daughter to go to a college near home but she wants to attend Georgetown. So they go on a college road trip to Georgetown where father and daughter fight over what college she will attend filled with absurd and sometimes funny situations. Martin Lawrence and Raven have great chemistry together, the problem is the stupid gags that get in the way of what is a nice story about an overprotective father and his daughter. The film is quite mediocre because of these absurd situations that insult the intelligence of the audience. Has some laughs but in the end it leaves wanting. Martin Lawrence and Raven-Symoné stop 'College Road Trip' from falling towards the bottom tier of Disney, but they are the only plus points in what is a very poor film. The quality of the comedy is awful, despite one or two extremely minor chuckles. They also try to shoehorn a hearty narrative at the end, which unsurprisingly doesn't land. Best avoided.
