HT 11/06/2022 Truly enjoyed this suspenseful Western! See more MisterDer 10/17/2022 I highly recommend this directorial debut from Isaiah Washington. It is a slice of life tale of real-life US Deputy Marshall Bass Reeves. I admired his efforts to make this film with little support from the industry. The setting is in Texas, in the 1890's and Bass Reeves is tired, but still fighting. There's yet another adversary out there causing terror, and this time, Reeves is also a specific target. No more spoilers, go see this in the theaters, and you will thank me later. This is NOT family friendly. Some profanity, and the violence is plentiful, but amazingly, not visceral. Impressive directorial debut by Isaiah Washington and he shines as the lead character, the real-life lawman Bass Reeves. Very brutal at moments but filmed well and a great story. Lew Temple was really good as the main villain and Billy Blair stood out as one of his henchmen but some better supporting actors would have made this a five-.star. See more Raggedparrot 11/09/2024 A low budget movie which is apparent by the repeated close ups with blurred backgrounds that do nothing to what at times could be gripping moments. This film has a shootout which defies logic I.e discarding a rifle which is empty whilst wearing a gun belts adorned by bullets!
