Without remembering how they got there, several strangers awaken in a prison of cubic cells, some of them booby-trapped. There's onetime cop Quentin (Maurice Dean Wint), scientist Holloway (Nicky Guadagni), young math genius Leaven (Nicole de Boer), master of escapes Rennes (Wayne Robson), autistic savant Kazan (Andrew Miller) and architect Worth (David Hewlett), who might have more information on the maze than he lets on. The prisoners must use their combined skills if they are to escape.

This is the original high concept horror, long before the likes of The Platform (2019). I found this very engaging even though it has below average acting especially from Maurice Dean Wint who thought they were making a cartoon. The logic, maths and physics of the Cube is flawed, if you ignore or blissfully don’t care then this film is so much better. The writing and direction are excellent. I didn’t like any of the characters except maybe David Hewlett’s character "Worth" although that wasn’t a problem. The ending is so great. Probably my favourite high concept ambiguous horror.

Fun cerebral flick but the cop was unnecessarily evil. Some of the moments of urgency was bogged down with the characters sitting and breathing.

How is a straight to VHS film this good??? I accidentally picked this up in a bargain bin in a thrift store, and it shouldn't be this good...but it is. A strange, but fun thriller that leaves a lot of itself, unexplained. Have to say not bad, and it's aged well, and hey, not a waste of time at all!!!

A small movie with big ideas. Even though it has clunky acting the story and the traps themselves make for an interesting horror chamber piece that inspired a lot of filmmakers

Has a decent plot line; pretty original (especially at the time), the character development and discovery of the 6 main characters innermost selves by the viewer is ultimately what kept me watching, along with waiting to see what traps and challenges the next room of the cube had in store. Ultimately it's a rather entertaining watch and should keep most viewers locked in until the final seconds.
