All of the unbelievable aspects of "Dear Santa" would be forgivable if it was just funny or sweet. It's neither. Go to Full Review

If Christmas movies can’t be good, they can usually at least be pleasant distractions. Dear Santa is neither. It’s a regrettable film, one that wasn’t ever worth the wordplay that started it. Go to Full Review

Contrary to popular opinion, Dear Santa rests on Robert Timothy Smith’s shoulders (...) His awkwardness, innocence, and charm feel so organic and honest that it doesn’t look like he is putting on a performance. Go to Full Review

Dear Santa is schmaltzy, dumb, and does nothing to earn its PG-13 rating outside of mild profanity and a couple of poop jokes. Avoid. Go to Full Review

Dr. C @drcereal 1d This movie is an absolute atrocity in the most poetic way imaginable, and that isn't always a bad thing, especially when the protagonist (and the antagonist) of the story, is Satan himself. Picture this: a socially-challenged elementary schooler with dyslexia attempts to write a letter to Santa asking for the return of his dead younger brother but accidentally writes Satan as the recipient. I don't think I need to keep elaborating beyond this point to illustrate how outlandishly erratic the premise of this film is. But it doesn't matter... you're still going to enjoy this film without forcing yourself to indulge in self-reflection of any kind, mostly because the film is pleading you not to. Your kids will probably enjoy this film, quite surprisingly, but as for the adults, it will take a couple rewatches to actually understand all of its jokes. Overall, this movie is funny as hell (cmon, that was good), but also one of the most unconventional comedies I've ever watched. See more Ed B Jan 17 It is a Jack Black film, so pretty OTT acting but as a Christmas movie it was entertaining enough and a slightly different twist on the festive period. See more Logan G. @SequelsArentAlwaysBad12 Jan 9 Dear Santa is a terrible Christmas movie with wasted talent that is not worth the watch. Bah, humbug. See more Shailan N @Shaiii Jan 9 I honestly don't know what the point of this movie was, not very good acting, story has promise but needed better writing, production and writing. Won't be a recurring Christmas movie for me. See more Tara D @iAmYu Jan 9 Dear Santa, an apalling film that really thought it was going to hit the hearts of the audience in a glorious way (it did not), was not only insanely cringe but also interpreted modern day bullies to be tough 90s style gang members. This movie wasn’t even a pain to watch, it was so bad I laughed through the entire hour and a half of it, they somehow landed celebs like Jack Black (who carried the movie) Keegan-Michael Key (who was also another highlight) and Post Malone! The main character’s acting and line delivery was lousy and the writing was indeed the death of a script. Gibby was my favourite thing about this movie, he is Liam’s best friend and I’d say Gibby had way more potential than Liam, not only in his acting but his story. What I thought this movie lacked is CONSISTENCY, they totally did not elaborate on Liam’s mental health and learning disabilities. if you want a movie that will make you laugh and absolutely despise this is a go to, See more Rebecca W @Rebeccathecode Jan 7 I am picky about movies. This one didn’t get enough good reviews and I don’t understand why. The cast alone was enough. Jack White did an amazing job being his funny self. It’s great for all ages. Good story line. Good ending. Every kid wishes they were famous on a stage and popular in school. RT is right 9 times out of 10. Or they steer clear of rating the movie. Like this one, no RT rating. There’s a very good chance you’ll enjoy this. See more Read all reviews
