I didn't like the previous two Enola Holmes films, what made me think this one was going to be different? I guess I am just a sucker for the idea of a cozy Sherlock Holmes style mystery. But this one falls short yet again. The movie manages to be both overly complicated and too predictable. And the characters, who are supposed to be smart, make some of the dumbest decisions. The plot was predictable and it didn’t have the same magic as the first two. The fight scenes felt contrived. While I’ve seen the first two twice and enjoyed them as much, I wouldn't watch the 3rd again. See more Rowan Dorian D @RT19431309 6 days ago [POSSIBLE, BUT BRIEF SPOILERS] Listen, I've always loved the Enola Holmes movies, even if they weren't particularly faithful to the Nancy Springer books. This movie however.... eesh. The pacing was atrocious. It was too fast, and most of the scenes too weren't given enough emotional weight to them. The plot was MUDDLED. They brushed over certain plot points, didn't do enough research on other points (ie, the British occupation of Malta was gone into in depth) , and while it really could have been a good story.... it just wasn't done as well as the first two. It felt like they were trying to turn a romance story into a detective movie by throwing a bunch of tropes in there without any real character growth or analysis. I reallyyyyyy wanted to like it but it just wasn't good.
