Like in most movies that Joan cusack is unrecognizable, but is an amazing actress. This movie is an accurate portrayal not only of married life. But of the single life as well. The conversation the friends have behind each other's backs it's pretty much how people talk in real life. Jane is either going through a midlife crisis or early menopause. Or something even more serious than that. Olivia sometimes gets very defensive when people talk about her being a maid. She's a single girl just struggling to get by. Who takes free samples every chance she gets. Franny means well but she gets too involved in other people's lives. Always trying to fix things & people. Christine like her house her life is grandiose. But not Grand. The men in their lives are just as complicated & complex. This movie is not a full-on chick flick. But it's pretty close. It's a movie that some men might relate to as well. Depending on the man.

It is hard to tell if the movie is trying to be synical, satirical or symphathetic about the lives of rich LA urbanites. The fairytale ending is silly, but it has its moments. The trope of Karen could easily come from this movie.

A film in which some really good actors try to make the most of a really lame plot line with underwhelming, snooze-inducing results. Maybe put this on if you’re having trouble sleeping.

I only recently watched this film. It was one of those movie’s where I’d watched a bit at a time. It just wasn’t very good. However the message was clear. It reminds me of why I left Southern California. Insufferable snobs.
