The true story of Pfc. Desmond T. Doss (Andrew Garfield), who won the Congressional Medal of Honor despite refusing to bear arms during WWII on religious grounds. Doss was drafted and ostracized by fellow soldiers for his pacifist stance but went on to earn respect and adoration for his bravery, selflessness and compassion after he risked his life -- without firing a shot -- to save 75 men in the Battle of Okinawa.

The trouble is this proper hero worship is drawn out and overstated in a bloated film that could lose 20 minutes of first-act exposition and 15 minutes of battle scene redundancies from its 131 minutes.

The superbly shot battle scenes aside, Gibson’s traditionalist sensibilities show up in how he shoots everything else which is a perfect fit for this particular film. It’s easy to get lost in the period he visualizes.

When I say that I have watched this movie 20 times, I am not exaggerating, This hands down has to be my all time favourite movie, the plot, tho simple it was so well executed, I feel this is one of those movies that every person should watch atleast once, a movie that showcases true Humanity.

This movie has been sitting in my library of "Must Watch" for so long now (1+ year), I finally decided to watch it, and I can now tell you that this is an absolute must watch. It is incredible and I cannot even fathom that this is even a true story, its very emotional, it tells exactly what you need to know about Sir Desmond Doss, he is truly admirable, his story is deserving to be seen, pair with Andrew Garfield performance.
