I would argue that it is a love story to musical theater. It shows you what theater can do, which is why I'm so glad that they chose to film the stage show instead of trying to adapt it, because I think you'd lose the magic. You'd lose the spark.

I expected to thoroughly enjoy it, but I did not expect it to be one of the most powerful pieces of media I've ever interacted with. Just wow. The way the story is told takes a devastating tragedy and fills it with so much hope and meaning that it feels empowering despite, and maybe even a little because of the outcome. On top of that, the stage and lighting effects were STUNNING and took the whole thing to an otherworldy level. I can't say enough about that, but it speaks for itself so much better. This experience is going to stick with me for a long time.
