Rafi แก้ว M @RT61647557 12/16/2023 I love this movie. I've read all the bad reviews, even James Caan's disparaging comments about it, and I can't agree. Yes, it's silly - but that's the point! It's slapstick in the old sense. The story is compelling, Diane Keaton's earnestness is a ridiculous contrast, and Michael Caine's wry performance provides an anchor to James Caan and Elliot Gould's playful, over-the-top mugging. The period costumes and sets are delicious, and Caan and Gould are adorable together, with some of the best buddy-movie chemistry I've ever seen. Don't expect 'Citizen Kane,' just enjoy the movie. Cann and Gould are charming in the leads as Harry and Walter and there is a great supporting cast that includes Michael Caine, Diane Keaton, Charles Durning, Burt Young and many others. Still, it all doesn't add up to much entertainment, other than to marvel at the gorgeous production design and cinematography. See more 11/08/2010 A financial bomb and critically hated when it came out, it doesn come across as a lesser rip off of The Sting. That being said, it features 3 of the top male actors in the 70's (Gould, Caan, and Caine, (all to be reunited a year later amongst the cast of all casts in A Bridge Too Far), as well as one of its biggest female stars (Keaton, who coincidentally appeared previously in The Godfather with Caan). Smaller parts are played by Burt Young, David Proval, and Charles Durning. who all help make it worth watching once.
