Highlander 2: The Quickening is the dullest and shoddiest action-adventure flick of the year, with only a few cute Sean Connery moments to rescue it from total, sheer and utter bogosity. Go to Full Review

Audiences unfamiliar with the first film will be hard put to follow the action [from a story by Brian Clemens] as it incoherently hops about in time and space. Go to Full Review

They missed the mark horribly, but nobody can fault the makers of Highlander 2 for not trying to expand the scope of the original story and take it in totally different directions. Go to Full Review

Highlander 2 is a mess. Nevertheless, damn it, it's a gorgeous mess...incoherent, but a joy to stare at for 105 minutes, watching as a franchise is epically flushed down the toilet. Go to Full Review

Mike E @RT10702306 5d If you forget everything about the first Highlander film and go into the sequel as an unrelated science fiction piece, you’ll see the fantastic cinematography which has a look that rivals other futuristic films like Blade Runner. The plot is still silly and a bit too much in terms of ridiculousness but that’s part of the fun of the ride. It’s over the top with action sequences that are intentionally absurd by nature. Sean Connery is a delight in his return while Michael Ironside laughs his way through the film with eager gusto. Christopher Lambert is basically the same as the first film and the action scenes, especially the sword battles are a treat for the eyes. It’s all in fun and if you take it that way, as a wild futuristic sidetrack with the characters, it’s a spectacular ride in full 1990’s MTV wildness. Ignore the continuity and enjoy the jaunt into the silliness of this film that has a wink at the audience for its own self acknowledged craziness. See more Frans B @FransB May 4 Not deserving of the very negative valuation, imo. Different to predecessor, for sure, new dimension of sorts. Story is well written and brought to screen. Whole stellar cast excels convincingly in character, lots of action, drama, suspense, twists, emotion and intrigue. Great cinematography, visually stunning. Entertaining enough See more Jelisije J @jjosifovic Apr 23 The origin story of the immortals was chained together with a greedy corporation not wanting to open the earth to the sun because of corporate greed......other then Sean Connery being absolutely hilarious their was hardly anything redeemable about this sequel.
