I love to reclamation of nature. My one gripe is that CGI was lacking, even for the time. --- (Storyline/Plot: 3.5/5) I'm not here for the realism on this one and I think the story is very solid. Great foreshadowing throughout. Would have been higher if they used the alternate ending as the true ending though. --- (Acting: 4/5) This was Will Smiths prime and his emotional acting in this movie was phenomenal. --- (Character Quality: 3.5/5) I feel like the characters themselves weren't amazing, but "Frank" and the others were such an intuitive idea! --- (Entertainment Value: 4/5) The tension was built relentlessly throughout, and for a largely single Actor movie, it was never boring! --- (Expectations vs. Reality: 3/5) When I first watched this almost 20 years ago, I distinctly remember being bummed this wasn't a "zombie" movie. Probably not fair but it is what it is. Have not read the book. See more Romas M @Romas Jan 30 Greetings from Lithuania. "I Am Legend" (2007) is a very good suspense science fiction thriller. This film works as a simple character study film that is exploring, even if for a bit, what it is to be living / surviving alone and as a gut wrenching thriller. Acting was great by, actually, two stars of a movie - Will Smith and dog Sam (Abbey), she definitely deserved some nomination here. The last scene of her in a basement always brings a tear in my eye. Setting of "I Am Legend" is a one big character in this movie. Visual effects and sound effects are amazing here. Regarding the ending of this film, I liked the original ending more (one you can find as an extra on Blu Ray disk) - it adds some much more details. Alternative ending is quite good too - the one we got to see in this film. Overall, "I Am Legend" is a great sci-fi film starring Will Smith. It is truly a showcase of how a film can be very good despite being shoot with almost none characters. See more K G @KatyG-S Jan 21 Will Smith is a hero of 0 population, but he saves everybody. I would have felt fortunate to be the only living things around the time living things have been instantly killed. The way Will Smith (actually, Robert Neville) feels about the well droughted New York - he is depressed & just having his dog. I will think of this movie whenever I hear Bob Marley's "Don't Worry About a Thing", which seemed effective because you could believe there would be hope to be saved before it is too late, which it is. Well, I like that Willow Smith is also his daughter in the movie - she is named MARLEY, after BOB MARLEY. When did he save everybody? He sacrifices his life by giving away his blood of immunity for a mother & son to survive the mutants. Thanks to that, they are part of a village populated of survivors. Does that make them the main focus? What I will criticise is the pacing (it is slow) & the mutants CGI is not good - it would be better if they they were real actors with prosthetics.
