One major issue with I’m Game is the director’s lack of conviction. Whether in the posh opening scenes or the fantastical ones later on, it often feels as if he isn’t entirely confident in the narrative, leading to a sense that he is holding himself back.

DQ's return to Malayalam cinema is not what you would have expected from the collaboration between director Nahas & him. There are some novel, fantastical elements but it doesn't help a story that is stuck in the past. I'm Game is old fashioned in its approach and I don't mean that in a good way. Though it starts out fun (barely, but I will give it that), post interval it goes downhill pretty soon with the same old revenge saga. DQ is fine, but this isn't his movie as the 2nd half focuses mostly on Antony Pepe's character. Though both actors are good , there is only little they can do to lift this script. Mysskin's hammy villain is over-the-top and bland. Vinay Forrt is underutilised. Kayadu Lohar continues to receive insignificant roles. My favourite bit of the movie was the Yogi Babu cameo that plays out during the end credits. I'm Game is a tough watch. Given this was directed by Nahas Hidayath, I expected a more grounded action thriller similar to RDX.
