Madagascar: Escape 2 Africa I think is a superior version of the first movie. Basically, this whole trilogy is an adventure along the way to a long journey home. In which case, each entry is kind of structured like an act. And I find this to be a more entertaining, emotional, and funny adventure compared to its predecessor. It’s still not high art or anything, and the story along with the plotting is still pretty basic. But the characters have stronger arcs, richer backstories, and I think there’s just more fun to be had. A very solid follow-up to a beloved original.
