ra’xy T @cxte_ Mar 15 My 4 year old loved this movie and I did too! It’s a perfect kids movie but as a ‘fantasy’ geek well into my adulthood I enjoyed it as well. She was so excited the entire movie pointing everything out and totally into it no distractions. This is a family movie idk what’s up with the reviews?? It cute, funny, and makes you teary eyed. My daughter was shouting at the movie telling them to leave the creatures alone. They did an amazing job, I fell in love with immediately. Even the performances of Till and Lowe, while competent, cannot salvage the lackluster material. The movie struggles to maintain interest, and its attempts at fun feel forced rather than natural. I saw this movie in theater with my family, my little brothers were really into trucks at the time and my mom thought they'd like it, they were a bit young for it but I remember not wanting to go and being shocked how much I loved it. See more Greybrother D @Greybrother 09/13/2024 Turns out to be decent once it finally gets going. The oddity of it winds up being pretty superficial. Basically a greasy, countryfied take on ET with more emphasis on autoshop and car chases than the creatures, and occasionally a faint Tremors vibe somehow. Surprisingly formulaic and kinda' dumb, but fun and exciting enough in the second half to just about make up for it. I was sad i hadn't seen this and wondered why it wasn't a box office success cause has the energy of Transformers!!! The SFX are phenomenal yes PHENOMENAL! PLUS the adventure 80s throwback to that good old feel good romp thru the woods and town, chasing and running, all for that connection felt through different life obsticles and newfound friends. And what TRULY sets it apart was that bond between the protagonist and his #stepfather! It's ALWAYS grrrrr how bad the stepfather is and if he could only get back to his REAL father...
