Jonah H @Delune 3d Whitful and thrilling, the movie is an espionage classic! The acting, cinematography, and picture quality was utterly exceptional. Twists I never saw coming, and you never knew up until the end where the red sparrow's loyalties truly laid. She started off as a wounded bird, but the red sparrow overcame the major adversity against her to become the leader of the flock and in control of her own destiny. Maybe I’m just sick of bad movies in 2026. It moves at pace I enjoy at my age. Casting could have been different, obviously, but idk if Americans would have enjoyed it as much without one of our top stars playing the lead- but who knows? I turn off a lot of new AI movies, but this one made me watch until the end, at least. See more Ellena B @EllenaBT Apr 3 Once in Bulgaria we used to laugh at Bulgarian actors trying to play western spies. Now we see the reverse - an English actor playing a Russian. Jeremy Irons had nothing Russian about him - neither the hysteria, nor the blind dedication to a cause, nor the benign cruelty. Did that casting mean that Russian spies are just like any spy in Europe? Well, they are not, and they do not try to be. Exceptionality is sought and projected. But the film was made before the invasion in Ukraine, which reinstated this status. See more Kylie C. @kycross44 Dec 27 Strong performance by Jennifer Lawrence, but most of everything else is not great See more J T @Jason123 Dec 13 I liked this movie Jennifer Lawrence does a good job and the casting was pretty good also but I think what prevented this movie from being great was the school scene (and less violence) which was kind of pointless and could have either been edited out or redone and made shorter - it hurt the movie - kind of like Apocalypse Now - Redux, the added scenes (those that were edited out from the theatrical release such as the French plantation and Playboy shit hole) hurt the extended (Redux) version - but the theatrical release without these scenes is a classic.
