Based on the popular video game, Milla Jovovich and Michelle Rodriguez star as the leaders of a commando team who must break into "the hive," a vast underground genetics laboratory operated by the powerful Umbrella Corporation. There, a deadly virus has been unleashed, killing the lab's personnel and resurrecting them as the evil Undead. The team has just three hours to shut down the lab's supercomputer and close the facility before the virus threatens to overrun the Earth.

I feel like it's a little unfair to review this in 2026... Cause this does NOT live up to what it was like when it came out. I mean, sure, even back then it was a cheesy action thriller about the zombie apocalypse, but at least the CGI didn't seem so god awful. Boy, did this age poorly. Acting is over the top, but. Jovovich is good enough looking confused but tough. The screenplay is quite basic (i know it's based on a game, but make it interesting at least). CGI, as mentioned, piece of crap. Keep in mind, this came out the same year as Lord of the Rings and Harry Potter. Insane. Not sure what redeeming quality i can give to this... It's not good.

Its an OG movie, back in it's time it had me glued to the screen. To this day, rewatching it in 2026- it still is a great movie! Love the action, the characters, the creatures, and the most well known scenes! Also, the soundtrack- AMAZING!

I remember watching parts of this movie as a kid but never actually watching the full movie. So a lot of the movie felt familiar, but it still felt like my first time watching it. It felt like, besides the very video game feel that it gave off, it also had elements of the Alien films, dumbed down. The way they build up the dread and mystery was effective. Milla Jovovich being a badass for a few minutes after standing around, not knowing anything for most of the film, was actually worth it, lol.

This movie is a good movie for all veterinarians to watch that were not involved in the 1990s. A scene in this movie was based on an underground experiment that was practiced, and was not allowed to reach the public.
