John C @RT50093740 7h I can appreciate what this movie was aiming for, but it didn’t work for me. The premise became obvious within the first 30 minutes, so the rest felt like waiting for the characters to catch up. More importantly, the script relies on people ignoring an absurd number of red flags. If I went to a dinner where even one of these things happened, I’d be making an excuse to leave; not sitting down for another course. Instead of suspenseful, the party just felt awkward and boring. See more Dave K @BilboBagsy Jun 30 It's hard to understand this film from the very start. A man accepts an invitation to a dinner party from his ex-wife who used to be a psycho. Sounds like an invitation you would almost certainly be happy to miss out on? But not in this movie, in this movie our main protagonist happily accepts. Even more confusing is that as the dinner party slowly descends into a cult recruitment party not a single person decides to call it a night and leave. Instead they continue to engage and humour the cults activists until the point that they all inevitably and predictably start murdering each other. Credit where it is due though the film is certainly intense but it feels more uncomfortable than anything else. I don't think I'd describe it as a mystery but it's certainly thrilling in places. It never really hit home for me though. I found it fairly predictable and it lacked the ability to keep my attention throughout. I was scammed by rotten tomatoes 90% review thinking it’ll be a good film. Do not waste your time. There is literally 0 plot, the most awkward dinner party that is so unrealistic, nobody with a sane brain would hang around for as long as they all did if any of them had any social awareness or a backbone. I was waiting for some sort of climax, and the only thing I got was the credits at the end of the movie. If you do anything right in your life, it’ll be seeing this review before attempting to watch this film and not waste an hour of your life you’ll never get back. You’re welcome.
