Critics Consensus

The Kill Room's talented cast and broadly comedic tone make for a reasonably diverting caper, even if its attempts to satirize the art world don't amount to much.

It tries to skewer the art world, but the result is pretty toothless. Go to Full Review

It’s even more biting about the craven capitalism of the art world than Velvet Buzzsaw and features some great broad comedic work from Uma Thurman and a soulful turn from Joe Manganiello. Go to Full Review

Braxtynn 10/01/2023 An unexpected and entertaining inside look at the pretentiousness of the high dollar art world. Direction was good, writing was great, acting may have been just a tad forced at times, but overall a very well composed story with a number of laugh out loud dark humor moments. Definitely recommend! See more Sharon 09/30/2023 I love Samuel Jackson, but this movie is a stinker. Do not waste your money. See more Will M. @RT44810610 4d I went into The Kill Room expecting a clever blend of art-world satire and crime thriller. What I got instead felt more like a painting that looked great from across the room—but up close, you start noticing things are… off. The concept is genuinely interesting: using the art world as a front for money laundering is a smart and timely idea. Unfortunately, the execution doesn’t quite live up to that potential. The pacing is uneven, the tone struggles to decide whether it wants to be darkly comedic or seriously dramatic, and at times it feels like the script is just as confused as the characters. That said, the cast does what they can with the material. There are moments where the humor lands and glimpses of a sharper movie peek through, but they’re too scattered to fully pull everything together. Overall, The Kill Room isn’t completely unwatchable. It just feels like it had all the right ingredients but forgot the recipe. See more Your B @RT09749132 Mar 24 Don’t believe the reviews. Go in with no expectations and you won’t be disappointed. Modern art is a contentious issue and this highlights it but all art is subjective, as are movies, opinions are like chocolate starfish, everyone has one. Great to see UT in something that’s a little bit gritty but not an "action" flick. Well done everyone involved See more Slick R @SlickReviewer Jan 3 Yawn. Don't waste your time. See more Gillian H. @gilhut Dec 3 Great pacing, and great seeing Sam Jackson and Uma Thurman back as a team on screen! See more Read all reviews
