It is packed with emotion, great plot twists, and way more energy. The neon-lit swimming pool fight scene set to Bonnie Tyler's "Total Eclipse of the Heart" was absolutely brilliant and easily the best part of the film. Unlike other horror movies where the characters are helpless, the victims here actually have a survival instinct and fight back hard. Kinsey using the shotgun for that ultimate "fatality" unmasking scene was an incredible horror payoff. A highly entertaining, high-octane slasher! The characters were great, the set pieces were amazing, and the scares landed perfectly. It's a slasher that doesn't rely on comedy or meta humor, but still manages to bring real emotion. Watching this family fall apart was genuinely heartbreaking, and seeing them take down one of the Strangers was incredibly satisfying. The only thing that didn't work for me was the scene where Luke stabs Dollface — the stab looked a bit awkward and unconvincing. And that pool scene with "Total Eclipse of the Heart"... absolute cinema. An iconic sequence and one of the coolest slasher scenes I've ever watched. One of the best slashers I've seen.
