It takes CBS’s disastrous Bush National Guard story—built on laughably shaky documents—and spins it into a martyrdom saga for "brave journalists." The film doesn’t just ignore the scandal’s core failure (basic fact-checking); it treats accountability like a villain and rewrites a cautionary tale into a redemption fantasy. Blanchett and Redford shine, but their talent is wasted on a script that launders reputations instead of confronting reality. For a film called Truth, it sure works overtime to avoid it.
